The Abundance of Rain

This morning I kept thinking "I hear the sound of the abundance....", but I couldn't remember what the story was about nor where the remainder of the quote came from. So, pursued to answer those questions and as I did I began to understand why I was thinking about it.

Read 1 Kings 18:41-45

Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” So, Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’” And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. Then the LORD gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.

Do you hear what is going on in the Spirit realm?

Are you filled with expectation for the will of God to prevail?

Are you praying with fervor and anticipation?

Take note: Elijah declared what He believed. He advised Ahab according to what he believed. Yet, there was no natural indication or evidence that it was a valid belief. So, Elijah went into focused, undistracted, persistent, expectant prayer. The heavy rains finally came. Would have the rains come if Elijah wouldn't have prayed? Does our intervention make a difference or is God in control and whatever will be will be?

Apparently, what we do makes a significant difference in the outcome of things. Why else would God tell us to pray without ceasing? Why would He give us the Sword of the Spirit? Why would He tell us we war against principalities and powers in high places! Why would we need the victory if there is nothing to battle against? Why are we told to fight the fight of faith if there is no fight? Why are we told to hold fast in faith if there is nothing pushing against us in attempt to topple us?

Pray, Watch, Expect ... When we pray we know that God is at work regardless of how it appears...Nothing is too difficult for God. Nothing is impossible with God. Do not make your decision based on what you see. Do you hear the sound of the Abundance of rain? Things ARE happening in the Spirit realm, that is very obvious.  Speak the Word of God. Pray in the Spirit and with your understanding. Continue to stand against the efforts of the enemy. Pray with your head between your knees....focused and on purpose. This is not over with yet. The walls of deceit, injustice and unrighteousness are falling down. The heavy rains are coming!!!!

I hear the Abundance of rain. Do you????

  1. I wholeheartedly agree with this instruction from the Word to pray, expect, stand, declare. Action words for us...and we will see our wonderful Lord bring victory!
